Why Low Buzz for Rana Naidu 2?

Following the severe backlash from viewers on ‘Rana Naidu Season 1’, it looks like the makers of the Netflix series made a cautious approach toning down the explicit content in the upcoming season 2.

While the aim is to woo broader audiences, the idea still dampened the excitement among the viewers. The teaser of season 2 which was dropped on YouTube has been getting mixed response.

Primarily driven by Telugu-speaking stars Rana Daggubati and Venkatesh Daggubati, the series had a limited recognition earlier in the Hindi-speaking belt. This has reflected in the overall buzz. But now that it has roped in Arjun Rampal in a promising role, fans can expect some enhanced emotion and appeal this time.

Due to mixed reviews from season 1 for lacking focus on the plot and explicit abusive language used in the series, there could be divided opinions among audiences for the upcoming season. Meanwhile, during the promotional event, Rana Daggubati assured the Telugu audiences that no explicit or vulgar content would be there in the Season 2. “The entire world has seen ‘Rana Naidu’ except the Telugu audiences. That’s the reason why we toned down the explicit content and slightly increased the violence in the series,” he added.

Another fear inevitably coming its way is Pawan Kalyan’s Hari Hara Veera Mallu which is releasing on June 12, just a day before the release of Season 2. ‘Rana Naidu’ has to make some noise otherwise it will eventually be swept away in the frenzy of Pawan’s one of the most-anticipated films of the year — even though OTT and theatre are two different venues, it could still affect viewership.

Another dull aspect is that the promotional activities of Season 2 haven’t been properly kicked off. The teaser launch was a low-key affair which could probably dent the prospects of the series, leaving little time to build anticipation among OTT viewers.
