Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam’s highly anticipated project Thug Life ended up as one of the biggest disasters in the history of Tamil Cinema. There were huge expectations around the movie as it marked the reunion of Kamal and Mani after a gap of nearly three decades and also featured an ensemble cast, including Simbu, Trisha, Abhirami, Joju George, Aishwarya Rajesh and Ashok Selvan. However, the film miserably failed to live up to the hype and crashed at the box office on the release day itself.
Now, after four weeks of its theatrical release, Thug Life has silently made an entry into the OTT space. This action drama is currently streaming on Netflix in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam. There was no prior buzz for its OTT release, and it has to be seen how the film will be received in the streaming arena.
The story of Thug Life revolves around gangster Rangaraya Shaktivel Nayakar (Kamal Haasan), his adopted son Amaran (Simbu), and their empire. It deals with multiple aspects like love, loyalty and revenge. If you have missed watching it in theatres, you can now catch it on Netflix.
Thug Life’s music was composed by AR Rahman. Raaj Kamal Films International and Madras Talkies have jointly bankrolled the project.
