More Than 400 Indian Students Died Abroad In 5 Years

In a shocking revelation of government data, more than 400 Indian students died abroad in the last five years.

The Ministry of External Affairs laid a report on the Safety of Indian Students Abroad in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday. According to the statistics, 403 Indian students lost their lives due to many reasons since 2018. The reasons include natural causes, accidents, and medical conditions.

Canada is the top on the list with 91 deaths of Indian students reported since 2018. The United Kingdom has 48 deaths, Russia with 40 deaths, the United States of America with 36 deaths, and Australia with 35 deaths.

According to the Minister of State, the number of Indians who are studying abroad is approximately 13 lakh in Australia, Canada, the UK, the US, Ireland, and New Zealand. The USA has 4.65 lakh Indian students studying in 2022, the UK has 55,465 students, Australia 1 lakh and Canada has 1,83, 301 Indian students.
