Indian students in the US have been facing attacks more than ever recently. There were suspicious deaths of Indians and Indian-Americans in the United States.
During a recent press briefing, the Coordinator for Strategic Communications at the National Security Council in the White House John Kirby stated that US President Joe Biden and his administration have been working hard to disrupt and end these kinds of attacks.
While answering a question about attacks on Indian students and concerns raised by the parents to send their children to the US, he said, ‘There’s no excuse for violence, certainly based on race or gender or religion or any other factor. That’s just unacceptable here in the United States and the President and his administration have been working very, very hard to make sure we’re doing everything we can to work with state and local authorities to try to thwart and disrupt those kinds of attacks and make it clear to anybody who might consider them that they’ll be held properly accountable.’
On February 7, an Indian Vivek Taneja died after suffering from life-threatening injuries as a result of assault in downtown Washington. Another Indian student faced an attack in Chicago on February 4 and was injured in the incident. An Indian student named Shreyas Reddy was found dead in Cincinnati, Ohio.
