An Indian student who belongs to Andhra Pradesh lost his life after falling through the ice at Woods Canyon Lake on December 22 in Coconino County in Arizona.
The victim was identified as Abhishek Singhakolli, a student of ASU.
The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that it did recover a body just after 10 am on December 23.
“The victim from Sunday’s drowning has been identified as Abhishek Sighakolli, a 26-year-old male originally from India out of Georgia. On scene investigators were told Sighakolli came from India to attend school at Arizona State University,” stated CCSO’s Jon Paxton.
Two others fell through the ice but were able to make it out of the water safely. The incident occurred just 10-15 feet away from the shore.
In December 2022, three people died at Woods Canyon Lake after walking on the ice and falling into the water.
