US Embassy Warns Indians: Lifetime Ban for Visa Overstay!

US President Donald Trump is cracking down on illegal migrants and in such a situation, the US Embassy in India warned the Indian citizens who stay in the US beyond their authorized period of stay will face deportation or even a permanent ban on travelling to the US in the future.

In a post on X, the US Embassy in India stated: “If you remain in the United States beyond your authorized period of stay, you could be deported and could face a permanent ban on travelling to the United States in the future.”

This warning comes after a Federal Appeals court refused to allow the Trump administration to restart deporting migrants to nations other than their own without prior notice or the opportunity to seek protection from persecution or torture, according to a report on CNN.

The US First Circuit Count of Appeals rejected the Trump administration’s request to block a lower court decision halting the policy. Significantly, the court decision comes amidst rising concerns over Trump’s government’s plan to send migrants to Libya, a country criticized for the mistreatment of detainees and ongoing civil unrest.

The advisory is applicable to all non-immigrant visa holders including those on student, work, tourist and business visas. The series of warnings come amid a broader clampdown under ongoing US immigration policies. The embassy’s frequent alerts have raised speculation over rise in the number of immigrants overstaying their visa period and illegal immigration attempts of Indian nationals.

A new policy change under the Trump administration mandates that all foreign nationals staying in the US for over 30 days must register with federal authorities. In the wake of these warnings, Indian visitors are strongly advised to check the terms of their stay and ensure strict compliance with the US immigration rules, to avoid serious legal implications.
