The bilateral relationship between India and the United States has been somewhat volatile in recent months. The Pahalgam terror attack, followed by the intervention of U.S. President Donald Trump and his subsequent statements about preventing a nuclear war between the two countries, have all made major global headlines.
Now, the United States has issued a new Level 2 Travel Advisory for its citizens traveling to India.
This essentially means that the U.S. government is advising its citizens to exercise increased caution while traveling to India. The primary reasons cited for this elevated advisory include rape and violent crimes targeting tourists.
The advisory states that this level has been assigned following a periodic review of the current situation in India.
Additionally, it warns of the potential risk of terrorist attacks occurring with little or no prior warning.
While there is no outright restriction on travel to India, U.S. authorities have made it clear that tourists should remain particularly vigilant given the prevailing security concerns.
