Tensions in the Middle East escalated sharply as Iran launched missiles at US military bases in Qatar, Iraq, Kuwait, and Bahrain. on Monday. This came shortly after Qatar temporarily closed its airspace due to growing security threats.
The missile attack was a direct response to US airstrikes over the weekend that targeted three of Iran’s nuclear facilities – Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan.
The US had warned of possible Iranian retaliation following the strikes. Videos circulated online appeared to show missiles being intercepted above Doha.
Qatar, home to the key Al Udeid US airbase, shut down its airspace as a safety measure. The US Embassy in Qatar has advised American citizens to remain indoors until further notice.
