Air India has officially announced that it will suspend its Delhi to Washington DC flight services starting September 1, 2025.
The airline cited multiple reasons for this decision. The retrofit project for 26 Boeing 787-8 aircraft has begun, leading to a temporary shortage in its fleet. In addition, the closure of Pakistan’s airspace has forced longer flight routes, resulting in higher operational costs. Air India also mentioned that some aircraft will remain out of service until the end of 2026.
For affected passengers, the airline will provide alternative flight options or a full refund. Washington DC will remain accessible via connecting flights operated by partner airlines through New York, Newark, Chicago, and San Francisco.
