India announced that all postal services to the United States will be suspended from August 25. The decision comes after the US government changed its customs rules, which now require duties on all incoming parcels regardless of value.
This follows new tariff measures introduced by US President Donald Trump, including a 25 percent duty on Indian goods and an additional penalty linked to Russian oil imports, effectively doubling the tax burden.
Indian authorities said US-bound airlines are not prepared to handle the new customs requirements, making it impossible to continue postal deliveries for now. However, letters, documents, and gifts worth up to 100 dollars will still be allowed.
The postal department has assured that customers can claim refunds for items already booked and added that efforts are being made to restore services as soon as possible.
