Chinese social media platform TikTok had been facing several restrictions across the globe in recent times. While India had already banned the platform in 2020, the USA imposed a few restrictions this year, citing that TikTok had been collecting unsolicited information from the users.
However, things are starting to look promising again for the Chinese platform with reports hitting at its possible return in India. This is now followed by a significant move from the United States as the latest statement from President Trump hints at a possible revival of TikTok in the country.
“The big Trade Meeting in Europe between The United States of America, and China, has gone VERY WELL! It will be concluding shortly. A deal was also reached on a “certain” company that young people in our Country very much wanted to save. They will be very happy! I will be speaking to President Xi on Friday.” Trump tweeted.
While Trump didn’t necessarily name TikTok, his reference to a company that young people in U.S. are wanting to save is a giveaway here.
Needless to say, TikTok is a major platform in the U.S. and when it was restricted hit the Biden administration in January, there was a country wide backlash. Many people stated their livelihood depended on it as they’ve been making money through content creation. This is now addressed by Trump on a positive note, as he has previously hinted already.
