Sai Prasanna Desireddy, belonging to Telugu states and pursuing master’s degree in Chicago, US, died after being struck by a truck in the foreign country.
The tragedy occurred when she was travelling to Mexico to resolve the sudden termination of her SEVIS record. The termination happened due to a course drop and miscommunication. She wanted to transfer to a college with lower fees to reduce the financial burden on her family.
To reactivate her status, she was advised to travel to Mexico, where the mishap occurred.
The news shattered her family members in India and they have initiated the process for the repatriation of the body.
Prasanna’s batch mates were shocked to hear about the tragedy. She has always been a very hardworking girl, they said.
