The United States is witnessing one of its worst ever ice storms as the country is coming to a grinding halt due to the extreme climatic conditions that are being observed in several states across.
Primarily, New York is witnessing a pretty bad ice storm as the urban pockets have come to grinding stop due to extreme cold and freezing conditions.
“Central Upstate NY had one heck of an ice storm. Nearly an inch of ice out our location. Power was out for 17 hours here. Total of 112,800+ customers with National Grid were without power at one point. Now, up to a foot of lake effect snow” a social media user posted about the condition in New York.
More than 100 million people from Indiana to the East Coast are under high wind alerts, with blizzard conditions and an ice storm from Minnesota to New York to Maine.
Incidentally, Niagara Falls has transformed into a dramatic ice palace after a powerful winter storm shattered southern Ontario and western New York, bringing freezing rain with winds up to 70 km/h.
This is being reported as one of the worst ice storms in United States history with such harsh and extreme conditions being experienced across several states.
