The TANA Mid Atlantic Youth volunteers have created a remarkable milestone through an inspiring community service initiative. Over an eight week period, young volunteers organised a large scale food collection drive across more than 30 neighborhoods and donated over 7,000 pounds, nearly 3,200 kilograms, of food to local food banks.
More than 350 youth volunteers actively took part in this effort, contributing over 1,500 certified volunteer service hours. This initiative stands out as one of the largest youth led community service programs in the region and marks a historic achievement for TANA.
The collected food was distributed to major food banks, with about 6,000 pounds donated to the Chester County Food Bank and over 1,000 pounds sent to New Hope Ministries in Harrisburg.
This record breaking initiative reflects the leadership, dedication, and service minded spirit of the TANA Mid Atlantic youth. TANA elders expressed their appreciation to the volunteers, their families, mentors, and community leaders who supported the program.
The success of the drive was made possible through strong coordination by the youth core team and guidance from TANA leadership. Under the direction of TANA President Dr Naren Kodali, along with board members, regional representatives, and community service coordinators, the program was executed smoothly and effectively.
