In another tragic news for the Indian community, a 22 year old student, who is pursuing higher education in USA, has been found dead on Saturday after missing for nearly six days. The reason for his death has not yet been ascertained so far.
Saketh Sreenivasaiah, a student from Karnataka pursuing Chemical and Biomolecular engineering at University of California Berkeley, went missing on February 9.
The news about Saketh’s disappearance came to light when his father approached the Karnataka government for immediate intervention after he was unable to contact him.
Now, it is confirmed that Saketh was found dead and his body was retrieved by the police on Saturday. The Indian consulate in San Francisco revealed this heart-breaking development and assured complete support to the family to return the mortal remains to India for final rites.
The body was found after a citywide search around Lake Anza and Berkeley Hills areas was launched when Sreenivasaiah went missing after being last seen around a kilometre away from the campus. His backpack, containing passport and laptop, was found near a residence close to his campus and this has led to the discovery of his body.
Saketh was an IIT Madras alumnus. He went to USA to pursue a master’s degree at Berkeley. Sreenivasaiah was among the few to hold a patent for inventing a microchannel cooling system for hyperloop and a method thereof as per his linkedin account.
