Two weeks after the first homicide in the area in 2026, a social media influencer was assaulted and murdered in Canada. Nancy Grewal, an YouTuber hailing from Punjab in India, was stabbed to death in Ontario Province, Canada.
According to national media reports, Grewal, 45, was assaulted by unidentified persons on Tuesday evening at the Windsor area. An injured Grewal was admitted to hospital by Esex-Windsor Emergency Medical Services where she succumbed to injuries.
The LaSalle Police received information about the stabbing before 9.30 pm and on rushing to the place, they found Grewal with severe stab wounds. She was rushed to the hospital but to no avail.
Police did not confirm if they had taken the suspect into custody. They said the incident is an isolated incident. The motive behind the attack is also not known yet.
Grewal was an influencer popular among the Punjabi diaspora, vocal about her views on developments in Punjab, pro-Khalistani groups and on India-Canada relations. She had also criticized jailed MP Amritpal SIngh, SAD leader Bikram SIngh Majithia, and Radha Soami Satsang Beas chief Gurinder Singh Dhillon.
