US Judge Reminds Trump Of The Rights Of The Media

US President Donald Trump’s administration has been facing back-to-back setbacks over its high-handed policies and aggressive decisions. In another big jolt, a federal judge officially blocked President Donald Trump’s administration from banning journalists from CNN, MS NOW, and Politico from entering White House.

Reportedly, US District Judge Timothy Kelly issued a temporary court order ordering officials to restore hard press credentials for the reporters immediately. The judge stated that the administration likely violated constitutional rights by taking away press passes without proper legal process.

It is a known fact that the White House on instructions of Trump has debarred these media outlets from covering the press conferences over allegations of false and fake reporting. Following this controversial order, some other renowned news portals supported the banned media houses and boycotted the coverage.

Meanwhile, CNN, MS NOW, and Politico joined together to file an urgent lawsuit in federal court against the government. During court hearings, Justice Department attorneys defended the administration actions by arguing that access to the White House is a special privilege rather than an absolute legal right.

The court decision is viewed as a major legal defeat for the White House in its ongoing battles with press reporters. Trump’s administration also launched Trump TV as a counter-measure towards the media ban. But, traditional media house have now got a legal relief.
