The volume of Telugu population that has settled in the United States and particularly in the state of Texas in the recent past has been through the roof. Subsequently, the number of unexpected incidents involving the Telugu community in the US has also been going up.
Now there is this particular trend where local Americans have started to identify and call out Indian folk who failed to follow social etiquette and hurting cultural sentiments.
On that note, a few social media handles in the name of US locals have started to extensively share content pertaining to Telugu TikTok and Instagram reels and question them on the same.
In these videos, we see Telugu social media, influencers dancing at culturally significant and historic monuments in the United States. Several of these videos have a problematic approach as Telugu individuals are seen dancing at memorial monuments, which are a token of solidarity and respect to the American people.
So the American population is taking serious offence to these TikTok and Instagram videos of Telugu users and questioning their integrity as they’re dancing at culturally sensitive areas in the country. Certain Americans are calling this the “invasion of Indian immigrants” and have been calling for stern measures.
This could snowball into a serious issue, and there is a chance that the United States authorities could crack down on Telugu social media users who perform such dances and over-the-top acts at iconic locations.
