Gun violence has been increasing in Surrey, Canada for the last few days. Within 48 hours, four shootings were reported from the area. One among the four shot includes an Indian. Jasman Sekhon (27), of Indian origin, was shot dead in Canada’s Surrey on Saturday night.
According to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT), Sekhon was targeted, as part of organized crime. Sekhon was shot at a townhouse complex at Sullivan Heights neighbourhood in Surrey.
The gunfire occurred at 6.39 pm on Saturday. On arrival at the scene, police found Sekhon grievously injured. They employed life-saving measures but he died. Police believed Sekhon was involved in the drug trade, as he had previous interactions with the IHIT cops.
Sekhon was chased by a dark SUV before being shot by two men who gout out from the vehicle. Within minutes of shooting Sekhon, a blue Hyundai SUV was found engulfed in flames near 186th Street and 44 Avenue in Surrey.
