It is already known that there is a lot of demand for Indian doctors and medical experts in the United States, which is the reason why several Indian origin medical professionals travel there for better pay scale.
But in the recent past, there have been several complaints against Indian origin doctors in the U.S. and we have one such story in development as an Indian doctor has been ordered to pay nearly Rs 120 crore in fines in the U.S.
Going into the story, Gujrati origin doctor named Dr. Jitesh Patel got booked for malpractice and he has agreed to pay $14 million to settle allegations of billing Medicare, Medicaid, and TRICARE for unnecessary procedures.
He faces complaints of over performing medical procedures on his patients and then over billing Medicare, Medicaid and other services. He allegedly commissioned unneeded sacral nerve stimulators and excessive tests on patients just to claim medical bills from insurers.
According to the latest communication from the United States, Department of Justice, Dr Patel and his Advanced urology Centre based out of Atlanta, have agreed to pay $14 million in fine for this activity. This roughly converts to ₹120 crore in Indian currency and this is a massive financial reprimand.
