The death of a young NASA engineer in a car crash last year has sparked renewed attention as the FBI launched a multi-agency investigation into a ‘sinister’ pattern of deaths and disappearances involving nearly a dozen American scientists.
Twentynine-year-old Joshua LeBlanc, an aerospace technologies electrical engineer working at NASA, died on July 22, 2025, as his Tesla crashed and went up in flames in Huntsville, Alabama.
His car crashed into a guardrail and then several trees before catching fire at 2.45 pm. The car and LeBlanc’s body were charred beyond recognition. Surprisingly, his phone, wallet, and dog were left at his home when the incident occurred.
One other anomaly in his death is that the data from the car’s Sentry Mode showed the vehicle was parked at the Huntsville airport for nearly four hours the same day he passed away. His family members said they were not informed about any travel plans on that specific day and wondered why he parked his car at the airport. LeBlanc worked on the Space Nuclear Propulsion (SNP) project, technology crucial for future Mars missions.
LeBlanc is among approximately 11-12 scientists, a majority working in the aerospace and nuclear fields, or defence research, who had died or went missing under mysterious circumstances between 2022 and 2026, prompting a coordinated federal probe. The deaths raise doubt if the incidents are connected or part of a broader, targeted campaign.
On Wednesday, David Wilcock, a UFO researcher, author and TV host, was found dead near Nederland, Colorado. The police said Wilcock, 53, did not have any public threat and also that the crime scene did not raise any doubts. It seemed to be like a self-inflicted gunshot wound which needs to be probed. Wilcock is known for his claims around extraterrestrial contact and books like The Source Field Investigation. Recently, while speaking in a livestream, spoke about the troubling disappearances of scientists, which raises doubt of possible pattern.
The investigators, in all the cases, spotted a pattern. Many of the victims worked in sensitive science or defence fields and their personal gadgets were missing. In a few cases, their data had been erased or could not be accessed.
In the wake of the FBI investigation, related videos on social media became viral and one of them mentioned scientists Dr Ning Chen (2020) and David Knolls. Probable theories being suggested for the sudden disappearances or deaths range from foreign industrial espionage to targeted campaign against the American scientific community.
