Indian Student Arrested in USA for Attacking Mother, Daughter!

The number of Indians facing charges for different crimes in abroad keeps increasing day by day as incidents of unlawful activities involving these individuals who are living on various types of Visas are being reported quite often.

In another shocking incident, a 24 year old Indian student named Atharva Vyas has been attested by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency in Texas a few days ago after he was found guilty of assaulting a mother and her three-year-old daughter in a park in San Antonio, Texas.

The victims Gabriella Perez and her daughter were severely injured in this attack which took place on April 18 at around 3 pm. The duo were walking in the park when Vyas allegedly grabbed Perez by the hair causing her to fall and drop the child on ground. While Perez was on the floor, Vyas assaulted the child, causing bodily and facial injuries, including bite marks and the loss of two teeth.

While the motive of attack was not disclosed, Vyas was immediately taken into custody by the local police. During investigation it was found that Vyas had been living in USA illegally since his student Visa was revoked last year after the Trump administration found that he was let off by the previous government even though he was charged with felony assault in 2023.

The Department of Homeland Security found that Vyas came to USA in August 2023 on a student visa. Just three months after his entry, he was arrested at the University of Texas campus over an assault case. However, no action was taken on him at that time.

ICE has issued a detainer against the man which means after his proceedings with the law enforcement is over, he will be taken into  custody and sent back to India.
