There is a large portion of the Indian community that has settled down in the United States, but not many of them have been able to create mark for themselves and the technology sector. But we have this one particular senior software engineer, and entrepreneur of Indian origin is much loud in the tech industry in the USA.
The techie in question here is Somasegar, the Indian American former Microsoft executive and Madrona Venture Group managing director who was widely credited with shaping Microsoft’s developer ecosystem and mentoring a generation of engineers, founders and investors.
Reportedly Soma had a sprawling 27-year career at Microsoft that took him from the Windows NT team all the way to leading the Developer Division; the group behind Visual Studio and .NET, tools that tens of millions of programmers around the world relied on.
He was an integral part of the Microsoft operational headquarters in Hyderabad, which was famously brought to India during the Nara Chandrababu Naidu regime.
He died of natural medical reasons yesterday and his passing is being mourned by the tech sector globally. His contributions to the software sector are beyond measure and he’s being lauded for the same.
