US and Iran Trigger War Tensions Again

When it appeared like the conflict between USA and Iran finally came to end after keeping the world on the edge for nearly four long months with prolonged military operation, the situation seems to be escalating again as both sides allegedly violated the ceasefire agreement and resumed strikes each other.

The latest escalation occurred after the United States launched heavy airstrikes against Iran for the second day in a row. US aircraft targeted Iranian military infrastructure, including drone and missile storage facilities, communication networks, and coastal radar stations.

President Donald Trump confirmed the attacks, stating that the military action was a direct response to Iran repeatedly violating the agreement. The immediate trigger for the US response was an Iranian drone attack on a commercial oil tanker near the highly strategic Strait of Hormuz.

This marked the second maritime attack in 48 hours, following a similar strike on a Singapore-flagged cargo ship the previous day. The US military stated that these actions by Iran directly threatened international shipping routes, forcing a defensive military reaction.

Trump issued a stern warning following the strikes, suggesting that further violations could lead to an even larger war. In a statement on social media, he hinted at the possibility of a full military escalation, warning that continued aggression might force the US to complete the job which could ultimately threaten the existence of the Iranian government.

It is well known that both countries agreed to a 60 day window for diplomats from either sides to chalk out a permanent peace deal in the wake of the damages done since the start of the crisis. But, the military forces refuse to honour the agreement and repeatedly find ways to trigger their opponents.

If the same situation continues further, it won’t be of much surprise if both sides again engage in another round of attacks and go back to a similar situation like it was before the peace deal was signed.
