Indian Woman Killed By Partner In Canada

Atrocities on Indian Women are on the rise as several incidents have been reported in recent times from different parts of the world. Now, another incident has happened in Canada.

As per reports, a 23-year-old Indian Woman named Damanpreet Kaur died in Edmonton, Canada, after being critically injured in an incident of domestic violence. Her 22-year-old partner Ritish Kumar has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder by the Edmonton Police Service.

The incident occurred on July 9, 2026, when local police responded to a call regarding an unresponsive female with suspicious injuries at a residence in Edmonton’s Silverberry neighbourhood. Kaur, who hailed from Samrala in Punjab’s Ludhiana district, was rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, where she succumbed three days later on July 12.

Following an autopsy conducted on July 14, the Medical Examiner’s Office classified the death as a homicide, with authorities later confirming that Kaur died of strangulation. Police took Kumar into custody on July 22 and formally charged him, noting that the case is being treated as an intimate partner homicide with no other suspects involved.
