Trump Signs Fresh Orders Targeting Birthright Citizenship

US President Donald Trump has signed two new executive orders aimed at restricting birthright citizenship and curbing what his administration calls birth tourism.

One order seeks to limit automatic citizenship for certain children born in the US, including cases involving parents who fall under specific categories identified by the administration.

The second order focuses on birth tourism, targeting foreign nationals who travel to the US primarily to give birth so their children can obtain American citizenship.

The move comes shortly after the US Supreme Court rejected Trump’s earlier attempt to broadly restrict birthright citizenship. The new orders are narrower in scope and are likely to face fresh legal challenges.

Trump’s administration argues that the latest actions address loopholes and misuse of the immigration system. Critics, however, say birthright citizenship is protected by the 14th Amendment and cannot be changed through executive action.

The latest move has once again put Trump’s immigration policies under the spotlight, with legal battles expected to determine how far the administration can go in restricting citizenship rights.
