Trump’s administration is pulling all stops to make life difficult for foreign nationals who intend to study and settle in USA. After proposing a series of harsh measures on various types of Visas, H-1B processing and Green Card approvals, the US government is now tightening rules for international students who work during their studies.
As per the latest reports, officials have issued a stern warning to American universities that they could lose their permit to enroll foreign students if they break regulations regarding off-campus training program known as Curricular Practical Training (CPT). This development follows after authorities noticed a rise in illegal work permits.
Under federal rules, foreign students can only take up internships if the job directly links to an existing course in their degree. However, many foreign students usually work illegally to survive independently during their study period.
Government officials emphasized that any misuse of this system will face strict action. In response, major institutions have paused or slowed down internship approvals to review the new instructions.
Experts now help that this move is another big hurdle for thousands of international students. These tightening restrictions make finding temporary work in the United States much harder than earlier.
