Erin Piacenti, a 32-year-old Vice President at Bank of America, died after being stabbed in a sudden attack in New York City’s Times Square on Monday afternoon.
The tragic incident occurred after a 49 year old woman resorted to stabbing at random pedestrians with two knives at the financial firm’s Manhattan headquarters near One Bryant Park. The incident has left one killed and another seriously injured.
The attacker was later shot to dead by the police. Emergency teams immediately rushed victims to a nearby hospital, but doctors could not save Piacenti due to severe injuries.
The attacker was identified as Pamela Cisneros. According to police officials, Cisneros was carrying multiple knives and launched an unprovoked attack on two pedestrians in the crowded area.
Piacenti served as a Vice President in the business selection and conflicts department at Bank of America. Her workplace was located just steps away from where the stabbing broke out.
Bank of America released an official statement expressing deep sorrow, remembering her as a highly valued teammate, and sending condolences to her family during this painful time.
