Flouting driving norms has zero tolerance in foreign countries and the punishment will be very stringent. In one such similar case, two Indian origin men have been sentenced for rigorous imprisonment in the UK over a hit and run case in which a mother and her four year old daughter were killed due to rash driving.
The two accused identified as Hardeep Bhachu and Jasskamal Riyat have been sentenced to a total of 28 years in prison by Leeds Crown Court. The tragedy happened when their racing car caused the fatal deaths of a 27 year old mother Justyna Hulboj and her four year old daughter Lena Czepczor.
According to police reports, Hardeep Bhachu was racing his Audi vehicle at extreme speeds against his friend Riyat’s car. In this negligent incident, Hardeep’s car lost control and hit the mother and her child on the footpath.
CCTV recordings captured Bhachu boasting at traffic signals about his car’s massive 560 horsepower just moments before losing control.
Both mother and daughter suffered severe injuries and were declared dead right at the accident spot. While Bhachu was arrested from the scene, Riyat fled immediately without stopping to check on the victims. However, Riyat was later nabbed after an intense investigation through CCTV footages.
Hardeep was handed a 12-year prison sentence after admitting guilt, while Riyat received a 16 year jail. Both men were also banned from driving for 6 years.
