With the midterm elections coming closer and November 3 is the D-day, the war of words between Republicans and Democrats has intensified. US President Donald Trump mocked former Vice President Kamala Harris over her Indian name during a rally in Texas.
Trump questioned whether Americans knew how to pronounce Harris’s first name. “Is it Kamala or Komala or Camela or…” Trump made fun of Kamala’s Indian name while addressing his supporters.
Trump said that her surname was simple and easier to pronounce but repeatedly made fun of her first name.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump also criticised the Biden administration’s handling of immigration and border security. He recounted a story about a family living near the US border and described their concerns about illegal crossings.
Trump defended Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Border Patrol, praised border officials and claimed that illegal border crossings had dropped sharply after he won as the US President.
Donald Trump also spoke about inflation, fuel prices and deportations, highlighting the challenges of removing migrants with criminal records. He repeatedly attacked the previous administration and argued that border security had played a major role in his election victories.
Trump’s remarks come amid intensifying political exchanges amidst the Nov 3 midterm elections. However, many NRI Indians are upset with Trump mocking Kamala Harris’ Indian name.
