TDP’s senior leader and former Irrigation Minister Devineni Uma, who was arrested earlier in Krishna district’s Kondapalli and sent to remand at Rajahmundry Central Prison, has been released today following bail from the AP High Court. Devineni Uma was arrested when he had visited Kondapalli to stop the alleged illegal mining.
Uma was said to be attacked by some locals when he tried to obstruct the mining activity. And this turned the political atmosphere into heat. G Kondur police have registered cases against Devineni Uma under various sections of SC and ST atrocities. He was also booked for ‘abusing’ police personnel. It was alleged that Devineni Uma had made “provoking” statements. Uma was sent to Rajahmundry prison as a remand prisoner.
Challenging his arrest and calling it an “illegal” arrest, Uma has moved the High Court. After hearing his petition, AP High Court granted him bail. Uma was finally released today from Rajahmundry prison. A large number of police force was deployed during Uma’s release.
Meanwhile, TDP leaders and supporters of Uma from Krishna district have arrived in large numbers. Police have stopped the entry of various leaders from Krishna district and this resulted in an altercation between police and TDP leaders.
Devineni Uma commented that justice prevails. He thanked the court for granting him the bail. TDP’s supporters hailed the court’s decision. Uma shot back at YS Jagan government and stated that the days of Jagan’s government are numbered.
