Another Setback For Jagan & Sanchaita From High Court!

The row of MANSAS (Maharaja Alak Narayana Society of Arts and Science) trust has caught wide attention with the involvement of high-profile names. AP state government had earlier removed former Union Minister and TDP senior leader from the post of the Chairman of the MANSAS trust  and appointed Sanchaita Gajapati as the Chairperson which stirred the hornet’s nest.

The single-judge has ordered to reappoint Gajapathi Raju as the MANSAS trust chairman and cancelled the state government GO appointing Sanchaita.

Challenging the single-judge’s verdict, AP state government and Sanchaita have moved the High Court double bench. The double bench comprising Justice AK Goswami and Justice N Jayasurya have rejected the additional appeals filed by Sanchaita and AP government. AP government and Sanchaita have appealed to hold the Single Judge’s verdict. However, the double bench reserved the Single Judge’s verdict.

Sanchaita and AP government have made 3 appeals each to the High Court bench. While the HC quashed the related appeals, the primary appeals would be called for hearing in December. The double bench has sent notices to the respondents.

The whole issue started when AP state government-led by CM YS Jagan issued a GO 74, dated March 3, 2020, appointing Ms. Sanchaita Gajapati as chairperson of the trust, the issue had then kicked up a storm. The move naturally didn’t go down well with Ashok Gajapathi Raju family who moved the AP High Court against the intervention of the state government. The single-judge ruled in favour of Ashok Gajapathi Raju in June 2021.

It can be noted that Sanchaita Gajapati is the daughter of Uma Gajapathi Raju and Anand Gajapathi Raju. However, Sanchaita’s mother Uma took divorce from Anand Gajapathi Raju in 1991.
