Revanth Reddy Gives Red Bull To Congress Cadre

Without a question, the credit for fulfilling the separate statehood dream of Telangana should definitely go to Sonia Gandhi. But the Telangana Congress failed to take this to the public and so they faced humiliating defeats in two successive Assembly elections.

As opposition, T-Congress could not also fight against the TRS government and adding fuel to the fire, one after another big Congress leaders joined the ruling party. Just when the T-Congress was looking absolutely clueless, the Congress high command had appointed Revanth Reddy as T-PCC chief despite severe pressure from seniors.

It’s close to two months now and Revanth’s influence is clearly visible in the Congress cadre. Unlike before when the TRS government attacked the Congress, there were very few leaders to retaliate. But now tens of voices are joining the chorus to counter the TRS government.

Revanth Reddy versus Malla Reddy’s controversy is the best example. As soon as the Malla Reddy used abusive language, Congress Dalit wing staged a protest at the minsiter’s residence. On TV debates, another Congress leader Addanki Dayakar came down heavily on Malla Reddy.

Then Revanth stepped into the scene with proofs against Malla Reddy that the latter indulged in land encroachments. The T-PCC chief tried to push CM KCR into defence for his inaction against Malla Reddy while that was not the case with T Rajaiah and Etala Rajender when allegations hit the headlines.

To Malla Reddy’s challenge, Revanth countered that he won against the minister’s nephew and there is nothing to prove again. Lastly the T-PCC took on KCR and challenged the CM to resign and call for a by-poll in Gajwel. Revanth said he would also contest from CM’s constituency.

Revanth Reddy was/is highly successful in drawing the attention and this in turn helped the Congress cadre to become active. With the energy invoked the Congress is looking like it’s back in business and thanks to Revanth Reddy. Political experts and observers believe that more such happenings may be witnessed in Telangana in the coming days.
