Illogical: Bandi wants Population Control Law in Telangana

Karimnagar MP and BJP Telangana state president, Bandi Sanjay is currently holding a ‘Padayatra’ across the state. Many party workers, regional and national leaders of BJP are lending their support to Sanjay in this Praja Sangrama Yatra.

Meanwhile, the firebrand leader has made some interesting comments the other day during his yatra. He said once BJP comes into power in 2023, he will implement the ‘Population Control Law’ in Telangana just like the way it was implemented in Uttar Pradesh when Yogi Adityanath took over the government.

“BJP will definitely come into power in Telangana after the 2023 elections. After taking over the government, we will first implement the ‘Population Control Law’ in the state just like the way it was implemented in Uttar Pradesh,” said Sanjay during his speech.

“One child is enough. Two is limit and three is a no,” he further added.

However, many people felt that it doesn’t make any sense as there is no need to implement such a law in the state of Telangana. UP is a densely populated state and it needs this law to control the population. However, that is not the case with Telangana.

In fact, an economic survey conducted in 2019 stated that population growth in Telangana will be as low as 0.1-0.2 per cent by 2041. It also stated that the population of the 60 and above aged persons will be doubled in the next two decades while the population of 0-19 aged people will reduce by 23%. As the state will see a sharp decline in the population of 0-19 aged people in the next two decades, then there is no point in introducing such a law. It looks like Sanjay missed this logic.
