Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is a three-day visit to the US, landed at the Washington airport. During his visit, Modi will meet US President Joe Biden and participate in the Quad Summit.
He described the Indian-American community as the country’s “strength” as he received a warm welcome at the Joint Base Andrews in Washington DC. Upon his arrival, more than a hundred members of the Indian Diaspora chanted his name, waving the Indian flag amid light showers.
Modi thanked the Indian community for the welcome and also posted the pictures of the warm reception given to him.
“Grateful to the Indian community in Washington DC for the warm welcome. Our diaspora is our strength. It is commendable how the Indian diaspora has distinguished itself across the world,” PM Modi said in a tweet.
“We are so excited to see Prime Minister Narendra Modi. We don’t mind standing in rain. We are excited to meet Prime Minister Modi,” news agency ANI quoted an Indian-American.
This is Prime Minister Modi’s first visit abroad since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Modi even stepped out of his car to meet people who were waiting to welcome him.
During the visit, Modi will address the UN General Assembly and also attend the Quad leaders Summit, apart from holding bilateral meet with the US President Joe Biden at the White House.
