The neighbouring states of Andhra Pradesh have cancelled the tenth standard board exams owing to the Covid-19 threat. There was a demand from student unions, parents and even political parties to do the same in Andhra Pradesh too. TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu has appealed to the YSRCP government to cancel the exams immediately and promote all the students.
However, the AP government initially decided to go ahead with exams but then with the pressure mounting from all corner, the government gave a second thought to it. AP Education minister Suresh met CM YS Jagan this afternoon to discuss this issue and finally the government has decided to cancel the exams and promote all the students.
Minister Suresh spoke to the media and announced this. Along with Tenth, the government also cancelled intermediate advanced supplementary exams and decided to promote all the students. The minister said the exam fee will be refunded to the students in the coming days.
Minister Suresh said considering the Covid-19 situation the government has taken the decision and about the grading, the government will take the opinion of education department officials and decide the rest of the matters.
