In view of the spread of the Omicron variant of Covid-19 in the state, the Telangana High Court directed the Telangana government to take necessary steps. Following the High Court instructions, the Telangana government banned rallies, public meetings and gatherings.
A G.O. regarding the ban on mass gatherings was issued in the evening hours. However when the G.O. is carefully observed the state government did not impose any ban on the New Year parties for obvious reasons.
The economic factor is the reason behind this and New Year parties would make a lot of revenues and keep the same in view, the state government carefully avoided any mention of New Year parties in the G.O.
But the High Court will take this G.O. into cognisance and may find fault with the Telangana government for excluding New Year parties in the restrictions list.
As per the G.O. the ban on rallies and gatherings is applicable from December 31st to January 2nd.
