The scenes of April 2020 are yet again repeating with new Covid-19 cases steadily rising with each day passing. Not just the regular Covid-19 cases, the new variant Omicron cases are also getting reported in hundreds. Keeping this surge in view, many states in the country brought in restrictions.
In Telangana, there are 3779 active cases and freshly 274 new cases have been confirmed while 84 of them are of Omicron variant. Amidst this there are reports of lockdown in the state but these are mere media speculations and to clear these rumours, the state’s Director of Health Srinivas Rao responded.
“If the caseloads continue to pile up, we might ask the state government to impose curfew and if needed the lockdown too. Most probably the lockdown may come into force in the last week of January,” said DH Srinivas. He advised people to wear a mask without fail and use sanitizer.
Already a couple of states have imposed night curfew while the Telangana government banned all public gatherings, rallies and meetings. Even Numaish (Nampally Exhibition) was deferred till January 10th.
