The ‘Three Capitals’ is a never ending topic, thanks to the YCP government which created a huge confusion among people. But for now Amaravati is the capital of Andhra and this was acknowledged by Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai in Rajya Sabha.
BJP Rajya Sabha MP GVL asked a question related to the Andhra Pradesh Bifurcation Act in the Upper House and regarding the same, minister Nityanand Rai replied that the state government has complete authority on deciding its capital region.
“The previous government announced Amaravati as the capital of AP but after the 2019 elections, with YCP forming the government, it introduced ‘Three Capitals.’ Recently the ‘Three Capitals’ bill was withdrawn by the state government because it is yet to come to a conclusion whether to have three places as capitals or one. For now Amaravati remains as the capital of AP,” said Nityanand Rai.
However, in the last 18 months, Amaravati lost many opportunities to flourish and progress in terms of development, infrastructure and others with the state government focusing more on welfare schemes which are poll promises of AP CM YS Jagan.
