The Andhra Pradesh government has transferred current Director General of Police (DGP) Gautam Sawang and IPS officer Kasireddy VRN Reddy has been placed in a full additional charge of the post of DGP. This surprise move by the AP government invited a debate.
The AP government asked Gautam Sawang to report at the GAD office until further orders regarding his latest posting are issued. Guatam Sawang was supposed to continue as AP DGP till July 2023 but none expected that he would be transferred so early.
Apparently there have been many reports against Gautam Sawang that he is working at the vested interests of ruling YCP and he really failed to maintain the law & order in the state. But the YCP government rubbished the TDP’s criticism and continued to back Gautam Sawang.
The new boss, Kasireddy VRN Reddy belongs to the 1992 batch and he previously worked as Vijayawada city Police Commissioner and Director General for Vigilance and Enforcement department.
