The swearing-in ceremony of the new Cabinet ministers in Andhra Pradesh was packed with drama and obsequious gestures what with all of them touching/falling at the feet of Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy or kissing his hands.
For some time, the onlookers wondered if they were in Tamil Nadu as such acts were usual with J. Jayalalithaa, fondly called Amma by her sympathisers.
In the ceremony held near Vijayawada, Guntur MLA Ambati Rambabu was sworn-in first, following the alphabetical order.
Kadapa MLA Amzad Basha took oath in the name of Allah. Adimulapu Suresh took oath in English while Botsa Satyanarayana fumbled to spell “antah karana suddhi”.
Bodi Mutyala Naidu paid respects to the CM and Governor on the dais by falling at their feet.
Thadisetty Raja of East Godavari district also tried to thank Jagan soon after swearing-in as the minister. However, the protocol officials called him and asked him to sign on the procedural documents.
Gudivada Amarnath and Jogi Ramesh also exhibited their loyalty by falling at Jagan’s feet.
Narayana Swamy, who was retained in the cabinet, displayed his loyalty to Jagan by touching his feet twice. Ushasri Charan appealed to the officials that she would take oath in English and on completion fell at the feet of Jagan. Merugu Nagarjuna too touched Jagan’s feet.
Nagari MLA Roja Selvamani exhibited her loyalty by touching Jagan’s feet and then kissing his hands.
Sidiri Appalaraju also displayed his gratitude to the CM by touching his feet.
Women ministers Taneti Vanitha, Vidadala Rajani fell at Jagan’s feet to which the CM put his hands on their head and blessed them.
All the ministers deliberately expressed their subservient nature to Jagan Mohan Reddy.
