Jagan Fumes At Media Organisations

Jagan owns a media organization by himself and he had taken the help of the largest circulated Telugu Daily Eenadu on several occasions. Yet, he criticized news stories and opinion pieces written in Eenadu in the public. The CM was addressing a meeting at Ongole in Prakasam district, represented by his uncle Balineni Srinivas Reddy, during which he lambasted at the media. He said that he was fighting with the demons, pointing at the four media organisations, which the YCP leaders call as ‘yellow media’. In fact, it is not a new battle but continuation of an old one.

Jagan fumed at Eenadu for criticizing the government’s welfare schemes and expressing fear that Andhra Pradesh could become another Sri Lanka, which is now facing the worst ever economic crisis. By doing so, Jagan tried to defend himself and said that some media organisations did not have the maturity to understand the good he was doing to the state.

In contrast to this, minister Dharmana Prasada Rao said that they come to know the truth only by reading newspapers. In fact, this is an interesting remark by Dharmana. It is true that people came to know about the padayatras of Jagan or his father and former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy only through media.

Even now, Eenadu is fulfilling its responsibility and trying to help the government understand that the state was facing a grave financial crisis. With a hope that Andhra Pradesh should prosper, Eenadu is trying to tell that to be strong financially, the CM should take appropriate decisions but not wrong ones.

Through one of its articles, Eenadu said that RBI is in no position to sanction new loans and is it not true? Were there no instances when the government felt it was burdensome to implement the welfare schemes as funds were not even sufficing to look into the most urgent works. Both the media and Opposition TDP have been suggesting that the government should think twice before making any promise.

Meanwhile, some senior journalists feel that it would be better if the CM himself can know the truth and try to rectify himself. A few others felt that it was not right on the part of the CM to come to a conclusion that a few media organisations were reporting only lies, as he is failing to understand the spirit behind the writing.
