A few days back YCP minister Chelluboyina Srinivasa Venugopalakrishna knelt on his knees and bowed down to Y.V. Subba Reddy at a meeting in Amalapuram. This incident shocked the YCP cadre because Venugopalakrishna is a cabinet minister while Subba Reddy is a family member of AP CM YS Jagan.
Many criticised minister Venugopalakrishna for this act and sentiments of the community (Setti Balija) he represents were hurt. Reacting to this incident, minister Venugopalakrishna defended himself and rubbished the false propaganda being run against him.
Apparently the meeting was held to condole the death of a former MLA’s son and the BC welfare minister added that Kudipudi Chittabbayi walked with Jagan during the Paadayatra instinct. “After YCP formed the government, CM Jagan had planned to offer an MLC ticket to Kudipudi Chittabbayi but fate had other plans,” said minister Chelluboyina.
The minister hailed CM Jagan for the promises fulfilled to the Setti Balija community. “Many are pointing their fingers at me that I insulted the community and brought disrespect. On the contrary, CM Jagan has granted a special Corporation for our community and no CM has ever done it,” said Chelluboyina.
Condemning Chandrababu’s remarks on this incident, Chelluboyina added that despite being Chief Minister for 14 years, the TDP chief never inducted anyone from the Setti Balija community in his cabinet. “I don’t have the habit of touching someone’s feet behind the doors,” added Chelluboyina indirectly targeting Chandrababu who allegedly bowed down before former Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram.
Not just Chelluboyina, the new ministers in Jagan’s cabinet are highly vocal and are not tolerating any criticism especially from Telugu Desam.
