Am I less deserving? Nagma questions Sonia Gandhi

Actress turned politician Nagma Morarji expressed her deep displeasure over getting snubbed by the Congress high command. On Sunday the Congress had announced the names of the candidates for Rajya Sabha and Nagma’s name went missing in this.

Upset with Congress high command and the promise made to her when she joined politics, Nagma took to her Twitter handle and directly shot a question to party president Sonia Gandhi.

“Sonia Ji, our Congress president had personally committed to accommodating me in RS in 2003/04 when I joined Congress party on her behest. We were not in power then. Since then it is been 18 years, they did not find an opportunity. Mr Imran is accommodated in RS from Maharashtra. I ask am I less deserving,” tweeted Nagma on Monday morning.

This tweet has gone viral and raked up a huge debate within the Congress party. But not just Nagma, national spokesperson for Congress Pawan Khera was also disappointed that he could not get a Rajya Sabha ticket. He added that probably something went missing in his penance. Yet Nagma congratulated all her party leaders who got shortlisted to the Rajya Sabha in another tweet.

Former Union ministers P Chidambaram, Jairam Ramesh, Ajay Maken, Mukul Wasnik, Rajeev Shukla, Rajneeth Ranjan, Vivek Tankha, Pramod Tiwari, Randeep Singh Surjewala and Imran Pratapgarhi are Congress candidates for Rajya Sabha.

Nagma joined Congress in 2004 and ten years later she received the Lok Sabha ticket. In 2014, Nagma contested for Meerut Lok Sabha but she lost and stood fourth.
