A few days back Telangana IT minister KTR was highly critical of Andhra Pradesh that the state had bad roads and poor electricity supply. Earlier in the day KTR kind of backed AP for the step-motherly treatment it is receiving from the government of India.
KTR launched the Annual Report 2021-2022 of the Ministry of Industries, Telangana government and addressing the gathering, he said the state government received zero support from the Center.
“Unfortunately we have not received any support. Likewise in the AP reorganisation Act, in 2014 when the state (united AP) was bifurcated, special industrial incentives were assured to not just Telangana, to my sister state Andhra Pradesh as well. Eight years, not a single incentive is being given. Now if I ask what is actually staturally obligated to the state, you cannot accuse me of being anti-national or anti union government. I’m asking for what is right,” said KTR.
Surprisingly in this event, KTR added that demonetisation has hit the economy badly while pandemic further worsened things. Despite the odds, the state made remarkable progress in percapita income and GSDP.
But what KTR mentioned about the promises made to both the Telugu states are absolutely true. First would be the ‘Special Category Status’ to AP and then the Polavaram construction. For Telangana, Bayyaram steel plant to other educational institutions were deliberately snubbed by the Modi government.
