The Andhra Pradesh government, which is reeling under pressure due to meager pass percentage in the recently announced 10th Class Results, has signed an agreement with the Indian multinational educational technology company, BYJU’s in a big step forward. This agreement will help students who pursue education in government run schools to get access to online classes from the experts.
In Davos, CM Jagan met BYJU’s founder Ravindran and we hear that Jagan showed a lot of interest in e-learning. Ravindran is said to have given a word that BYJU’s would support the government run schools in AP and days later the state government and BYJU’s have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
Key highlights of AP Govt’s agreement with BYJU’s:
· From class 4 to 10th standard, 32 Lakh students are studying in government schools and with this agreement, students will get quality education through the Learning app.
· Current 8th grade students who will be in their 10 standard in 2025 will be writing exams on the CBSE model. In addition to this app, English Learning app is also available for free to equip them.
· From class 8 students will also be provided with a tab to learn. It will benefit 4.7 lakh students in government schools.
· Maths, Science and Social Studies subjects will be available in both English and Telugu mediums.
· Mapping based on the CBSE syllabus is designed for the curriculum in the app. Each chapter in each subject will also have a questionnaire on various topics as per the CBSE syllabus.
· A feedback will be taken from students on how useful this app is and how much they learned covering the syllabus.
· Interactive games are also included in the app to make math and general science easier to understand for students in grades 4 to 10.
· Sample questionnaires are also available for students to practice frequently.
· Progress reports are also given monthly on the progress the student has made. There will also be a meeting with the teacher online.
Speaking on this occasion CM Jagan said this is a revolutionary change in the education sector and it will truly prepare students for the competitive world. “BYJU’s subscription would cost Rs 20,000 to Rs 24,000 for a single student but under this agreement, students will get quality education for free of cost. For the tabs to be given to students, the state government will be spending Rs 500 crore,” said Jagan.
