BJP MLA Raja Singh Arrested For Controversial Comments

Telangana BJP MLA Raja Singh was arrested today following his controversial comments against Prophet Mohammad that reportedly stroked protests. A section of community that was hurt by Raja Singh’s comments took to protests outside South Zone DCP office in Hyderabad.

Earlier, an FIR was registered against Raja Singh on Monday. Several MIM leaders and others have lodged police complaint against Raja Singh and demanded action after a purported video of Raja Singh has gone viral in which he allegedly made belittling remarks against Prophet. The video was uploaded on a YouTube channel called “Shree Ram Channel” and this video was immediately removed and barred from the public viewing.

According to police, Raja Singh was booked under Section 153 (A) (Promoting enmity between different groups on ground of religion); 295 (A) (Making comments in words or in writing with deliberate and malicious intention of outraging the religious feelings of any class), 505 (1) (B) (C) (making statements that incite communal violence), 505 (2) (making statements to create enmity and hatred between classes) and 506 (criminal intimidation).

Meanwhile, security has been tightened in various parts of Hyderabad owing to the protests. Cops are monitoring the situation carefully. BJP leaders are yet to comment on Raja Singh’s arrest. More details are awaited.
