BJP’s Political Love On Telugu Celebs

BJP president JP Nadda met ace cricketer Mithali Raj at Novotel Hotel in Hyderabad this morning. Later in the day, he is scheduled to meet actor Nithin in the same hotel and also address a public meeting in Warangal. Significantly, Union Home Minister Amit Shah met actor Jr NTR at Novotel on August 21 after addressing a public meeting in Munugode for which bypolls were necessitated following the resignation of MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy. Rajgopal Reddy switched loyalty to the BJP from the Congress.

Mithali Raj met Nadda following a request from the BJP leadership.

The BJP leaders’ tryst with the actors and cricketer has raised speculation over what the party is planning to do with them. Political observers felt that the party could be planning to add ‘star’ power to their high-decibel campaigning by including the actors in their team both in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Jr NTR is a native of Andhra Pradesh while Nithin is son of a Telangana-based distributor Sudhakar Reddy. The BJP could be contemplating to rope in these actors to add vigour and make their campaigning vibrant for the upcoming elections in the respective states.

Cricketer Mithali Raj, a resident of Hyderabad, is also a celebrity who could add strength to the campaigning team. She is a native of Jodhpur and can also be useful to the BJP while campaigning for the Rajasthan Assembly polls scheduled next year.

In the evening, Nadda will address a public meeting to be held at the Hanamkonda Arts College to mark the conclusion of BJP Telangana president Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s third phase of Praja Sangrama Yatra.
