Congress Leader Rajiv Tyagi Collapses & Dies After TV Debate

Congress party’s spokesperson Rajiv Tyagi passed away after suffering a severe cardiac arrest on Wednesday. Rajiv Tyagi had attended a TV debate at 5 pm and complained of chest pain soon after the programme ended. He then fell unconscious and soon he was rushed to Yashoda Hospital, Ghaziabad, where doctors declared him dead.

A Few hours before collapsing, Rajiv Tyagi had participated in the Dangal show of Aaj Tak channel discussing Bengaluru riots. His last tweet, which was posted at 3.41 PM, was asking his supporters to watch him live on TV at 5 PM. Tyagi was 52-year-old. He is survived by his wife and two sons.

As per reports, Tyagi has asked for some tea after the TV debate. By the time, tea was brought to him, Tyagi fell unconscious and he did not respond. A local doctor was then called but after efforts to bring him back to conscious state failed, he was rushed to the hospital.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi has spoken to Tyagi’s wife to express her condolences and recalled his contribution to the party.

“The untimely death of Rajiv Tyagi, spokesperson of the Indian National Congress, is a personal sorrow for me. We all have irreparable damage,” Priyanka Gandhi tweeted.”Rajivji was a dedicated warrior. Heartfelt condolences to the family from all UP Congress. May God give his family the strength to suffer,” she added.

Condoling the demise of Rajiv, Rahul Gandhi wrote, “Congress has lost one of its tigers today. Congress will forever remember his love for the party and struggles. I pay my homage to him and condolences to his family”.
