The Same Old Story Repeats In AP Assembly

The monsoon session of AP Assembly commenced this morning yet there is no change in the scenario. Post the national anthem, the Telugu Desam MLAs moved a resolution demanding a debate on the job calendar and they raised slogans against the YCP.

However AP Assembly Speaker Tammineni Sitharam rejected the TDP MLA’s resolution. This irked the opposition MLAs and they protested. ‘Job Raavalante… Jagan Povaali’ were some of the slogans TDP mouthed in the Assembly. Amidst the TDP’s protest, the Speaker went ahead with a Question Hour session.

On the job calendar, AP government chief whip Srikanth Reddy claimed that YCP government has recruited two Lakh people in the last three years and the notifications slowed down due to multiple reasons. “TDP is politicising every issue. There are many unemployed politicians and leaders in TDP and they will have no future after 2024,” said Srikanth Reddy.

AP Finance minister Bugganna Rajendranath Reddy fumed over TDP MLAs protest. “Assembly speaker Tammineni agreed to discuss the job calendar after the Question Hour but TDP was stubborn on it. This is against the rules of the House. TDP leaders are not following book rules,” said Bugganna.

Yet for the umpteenth time we have seen such incidents. Assembly is a platform where the opposition and ruling party get to discuss the prime issues being faced by the public. A lot of taxpayers money goes into hosting Assembly but these incidents do more harm for the public.

While this is the scenario in AP, the Assembly sessions in Telangana are progressing smoothly. Even though BJP and TRS are at loggerheads, there is an atmosphere for debate and the other day we have seen CM KCR and BJP’s Raghunandan Rao disputing over the Electricity Reforms brought by GoI.
